In short

On Zameen.com's index for August 2026, a 5 marla house in DHA Defence Lahore averaged about PKR 2.81 crore in asking prices. In Bahria Town Lahore the figure was about PKR 2.19 crore. For 10 marla houses the averages were about PKR 5.48 crore in DHA, PKR 4.53 crore in Johar Town, PKR 3.94 crore in Bahria Town and PKR 3.84 crore in LDA Avenue. Price per square foot tells you more than the headline figure, because a marla is not the same size everywhere. Before buying, check the society's approval status with the LDA or DHA, the seller's title documents and any pending dues.

If you are searching for a house for sale in Lahore, the two sizes you will see most often are 5 marla and 10 marla. They are the city's family-home standard, and asking prices for them vary widely depending on the society. This guide compares what sellers are asking in DHA Lahore, Bahria Town Lahore, Johar Town and LDA Avenue, and lists the checks to run before you pay a token.

All prices below are asking prices from a listing portal, not registered sale prices. Treat them as a starting point for your own research.

How big is a 5 marla or 10 marla house in Lahore?

A marla is a land unit, and 20 marla make 1 kanal. Its size in square feet is not fixed across Punjab. The Punjab Private Housing Scheme Rules 2010, as quoted by Law Insider, define a marla as 225 sq ft in Lahore district and 272 sq ft in other districts of Punjab. On the Lahore definition, a 5 marla plot is about 1,125 sq ft (and 10 marla about 2,250 sq ft). Older revenue records and some deeds may use a different marla, so always confirm the area in square feet on the allotment letter or registry.

5 marla house for sale in Lahore: asking prices by area

The figures below come from Zameen.com's house price index and reflect average asking prices for August 2026.

Area5 marla average asking pricePrice per sq ft
DHA DefencePKR 2.81 crorePKR 25,000
Johar TownPKR 2.76 crorePKR 24,900
Bahria TownPKR 2.19 crorePKR 19,500

Individual listings stray from these averages. On the day we checked, Zameen's Lahore listings included 5 marla houses in DHA 9 Town asking between PKR 2.85 crore and PKR 3.2 crore, and one in Bahria Town's Jinnah Block asking PKR 2.5 crore. New construction, corner plots, a park-facing location and a basement all push the asking price up.

Who buys 5 marla in Lahore

A 5 marla house is usually the entry point for families buying their first home in a gated society, and for overseas Pakistanis looking for a property that is easy to rent out. Expect smaller rooms, a compact lawn or none at all, and car parking that may be tight.

10 marla house: DHA Lahore, Bahria Town Lahore and LDA schemes

Area10 marla average asking pricePrice per sq ft
DHA DefencePKR 5.48 crorePKR 24,700
Johar TownPKR 4.53 crorePKR 22,300
Bahria TownPKR 3.94 crorePKR 17,800
LDA AvenuePKR 3.84 crorePKR 17,100

A 10 marla house generally gives you more bedrooms, a driveway and room for a small garden. Because the price per square foot for 10 marla is close to, or a little below, the 5 marla rate in the same society, buyers with a larger budget often get more space per rupee.

DHA Lahore

DHA Lahore is spread across numbered phases. Its official website refers to Phases I, II, IV, V, VI, VIII and IX, and it offers e-services such as a plot finder and a transfer facility. Older phases are mostly built up. Newer phases have more vacant plots and more houses under construction.

Bahria Town Lahore

Bahria Town Lahore is organised into sectors and blocks, and Zameen's index tracks prices at block level. Its per-square-foot asking price sits below DHA's in the index, which is why many first-time buyers start their search there.

LDA City and LDA Avenue

These are the Lahore Development Authority's own housing schemes. LDA Avenue I, on Raiwind Road, was launched in 2002, and Zameen News reported in 2015 that possession had been handed over in most of its blocks. LDA City has moved more slowly. ProPakistani reported in December 2023 that possession of plots in C Block of its Jinnah Sector was starting after allottees had waited more than 11 years. In LDA City you are more likely to find plots than finished houses, so check the possession status of the exact block before you buy.

Where to buy: matching area to budget

  • Tighter budget: Zameen's Lahore index shows lower average prices per square foot in schemes such as Park View City, Bahria Orchard and Bahria Nasheman. Check each scheme's approval status before you shortlist it.
  • Established neighbourhoods: Johar Town, Allama Iqbal Town and Wapda Town are older areas close to schools, hospitals and markets. Plots there are usually built-up houses rather than vacant land.
  • Gated communities: DHA and Bahria Town offer managed security and services, with maintenance charges to match.

Checks before you pay a token

  1. Approval: confirm the society is approved on the LDA's website, or for DHA through DHA's own records.
  2. Title: match the seller's CNIC with the registry, allotment letter or transfer documents. For land outside a society, get the fard from the land record centre.
  3. Dues: ask for a no-dues certificate from the society, and recent utility bills.
  4. Building approval: a house should have an approved building plan and a completion certificate from the society.
  5. Payments: pay through a bank, not in cash, and keep copies of every receipt.

Prices are indicative as of October 2026.
